Attunement
The ability to channel Reiki energy is transferred to the student by the Reiki Master during an attunement process. Reiki or spiritual consciousness makes adjustments in the student’s chakras and energy pathways and also in deeper parts of one’s consciousness to accommodate the ability to channel Reiki energy.
Byosen Scanning
Byosen means “disease line”. This scanning is a method of using the sensitivity in the hands to discover and treat those areas in need of Reiki.
Chakra
Chakra means “energy wheel”. The chakras are actually transformers of subtle energy. They take energy that is always around us and transform it into the various frequencies our subtle energy system needs to keep us healthy.
Gassho Meditation
Gassho means “two hands coming together”. This is a meditation technique where the focus is placed on the space between the palm chakras. Students enter into Gassho meditation when receiving an attunement.
Healing Fire
This is an additional ignition that enhances Holy Fire. Its qualities include healing deeply seated issues more quickly including pre-birth, birth, and early childhood issues, child and sexual abuse and PTSD. It eases stress and releases anger, fear, and hostility. The Healing Fire is gentle and is accompanied by a feeling of peace and being loved and cared for.
Holy Fire
The word holy has as its root meaning to be whole and complete and this is how it is used. Holy Fire is a spiritual energy that creates wholeness through purification, healing, empowerment, and guidance.
Ignition
This is a time when the student is led into a short experience to move into a receptive state and then lets the Holy Fire take over. This is a remarkable effect and a demonstration of the power and higher consciousness of the Holy Fire experience. Holy Fire energy guides the experience directly and ignites the Holy Fire as a living flame within each student.
Kanji
Japanese term for adopted Chinese characters used in modern Japanese writing system.
Usui Reiki
Mikayo Usui received the gift of Reiki in 1922. He used it to help many people and over time developed many healing techniques to facilitate its use, such as Gassho meditation, Byosen scanning, and many more. He developed a method of teaching Reiki which Maryland Center for Reiki Training incorporates in their classes.
